MatrEx™ Binary Gel Explosive is a powerful and adaptable gelled explosive.  MatrEx™ is sold as two non-explosive components, the gel and the activator, which eliminates logistical problems encountered in shipping, storing, and transporting commercial high explosive materials.  When mixed, MatrEx™ is a cap sensitive, high explosive which produces high gas volume, high bulk energy and a consistent detonation velocity.

VK Integrated Systems Energetics Department is poised to provide training for military and law enforcement.  Each course is tailored to meet the specific needs of the operators being trained.  All courses provide practical exercises that intend to hone the operators skills as well as providing pre and post testing to benchmark the lessons learned.  The Energetics Department has developed a cadre of individuals who are subject matter experts in their respective fields which allows for a blending of science and operational aspects for a full spectrum view of the curriculum being learned.

MatrEX™ Binary Gel Explosive is a non-explosive mixture that once combined becomes a powerful and adaptable gelled binary explosive. It is distributed as two non-explosive components, the gel and activator, which eliminates logistical problems encountered in shipping, storing, and transporting commercial high explosive materials.


When mixed, MatrEX™ is a cap sensitive, high explosive, which produces high over pressure, high bulk energy as well as a consistent detonating velocity.

  • MatrEX™ Binary Gel Explosive is supplied as a two component system.
  • The non-explosive gel and activator are combined to form the high explosive formulation ready for use.
  • MatrEX™ is sensitive to a standard blasting cap at ambient conditions as well as 50 g/ft (10g/m) detonating cord.
  • MatrEX™ is suitable for use in multiple end items such as shaped charges, bulk charges, disruption tools, and common demolition configurations.
